Custom Design

Designed by hand.
On paper.

We don’t pull your ring from a CAD library of pre-existing shapes. We draw it — with a pencil, on paper — the way the Vandenbergs always have.

The process

From a blank page to a one-of-a-kind piece.

  1. 01

    We sketch it on paper.

“Our custom design work is not just some CAD library of pre-existing shapes. We pride ourselves in taking a hands-on approach by still doing custom design the old fashioned way — on paper with creativity.” Every line is drawn and measured by hand before a single tool is picked up.

An actual working drawing — a Vandenberg custom design, drawn and annotated by hand.
  2. 02

    We model it.

Step by step we move forward with drawings and models, so you’ll know exactly how your one-of-a-kind piece will turn out — before it’s ever made. Nothing is left to surprise.

  3. 03

    We make it by hand.

Then our trained metalsmiths build it at the bench, right here in Cascade. One piece, made for one person.

Remounts & redesigns

Already have a stone? Give it a new life.

“Even a simple remount into an existing ring is considered a ‘custom’ tailoring job.” Bring in a stone you love — an heirloom, an upgrade, a redesign — and we’ll tailor a new setting around it.

What it’s like to work with us

You’ll know exactly how it will turn out.

There’s no mystery and no middleman. You sit down with Chuck or Greg — trained metalsmiths and the third generation of the family — and watch the idea take shape on paper. You approve the drawing. You see the model. Then we make it. It’s personal, it’s patient, and it’s the way we’ve done it since 1923.

Begin

Let’s draw your ring.

Tell us what you have in mind and we’ll set up a time to sketch it together.
